Ethics
At Macabres Curiosités , each piece is a unique work, crafted with care and respect. My commitment is not limited only to aesthetics, but also extends to a responsible and respectful practice of the environment, the creatures that inspire me and the communities with which I collaborate. Here are the values that guide my creations:
Respect for biodiversity and species
I would like to emphasize that the insects used in my creations are not taken from the wild . My commitment to preserving biodiversity is at the heart of my work. I ensure that all butterflies and other insects come from butterfly farms or specialized breeding facilities that guarantee their well-being throughout their life cycle. These farms, located mainly in France and Thailand , are managed with respect for the environment and the creatures they host.
The butterfly farms I work with play a crucial role in preserving species and contributing to the study of local ecosystems. They also help raise awareness of the beauty and importance of insects in the food chain and ecological balance.
Responsible and fair trade
The insect and butterfly trade, far from being a simple commercial activity, is also a way for indigenous communities to preserve their environment while improving their living conditions. By working with farms that respect ethical standards, I support these local initiatives, which ensure the protection of habitats while providing populations with sustainable sources of income.
The farms I work with respect sustainability criteria, ensuring that the insects live in good conditions until their end, without disturbing the surrounding ecosystem. Thus, each butterfly is respected as a living being.
Diversity and Continuous Research
In my quest to offer unique pieces while respecting my values, I am constantly looking for new suppliers. My goal is to guarantee diversity in the species I work with, while ensuring that each specimen comes from a responsible and environmentally friendly source.
Taking care of your creations with naturalized insects
Paintings decorated with naturalized insects require special attention to preserve their beauty and integrity over time. To ensure their longevity, it is essential to keep them away from direct sunlight, as prolonged exposure to UV rays can alter the colors and degrade the insects.
Also, be sure to avoid humid environments that could damage the specimens. If you notice any pests, a simple solution is to place the creation in the freezer for 48 hours, which will kill the pests without damaging the insects. To gently clean the frame, use a soft brush or dry cloth to avoid putting pressure on the insects or causing possible damage.
By following these tips, your painting will remain beautiful and preserved for many years.
